Why it's harder than the real test

  • Every wrong answer is a close call. Begins or ends, left or right, recommended or maximum speed, 5 m or 15 m. You have to know the rule, not recognise it.
  • No guessing by length. Right and wrong answers are written to similar lengths, so the longest option is rarely the right one.
  • Answers are shuffled every time. Each new set starts with questions you haven't seen yet, until you've covered all 333.
  • Checked against the handbook. Every question shows the handbook page it comes from, so you can read the rule in SGI's own words.

How to use this site

  1. 01

    Read the handbook

Start with Chapters 3 and 4 of the official Driver's Handbook. Every question here points to the page it comes from.

  2. 02

    Practise

Practice mode shows the right answer and the reason after each question. New sets start with questions you haven't seen yet.

  3. 03

    Take a mock exam

Exam mode hides the answers until the end and gives you a pass or fail result. Aim to pass both parts several times in a row.

About the knowledge test

  • A Class 7 learner's licence requires two knowledge tests: Basic (driving situations and rules of the road) and Sign identification.
  • If you fail one part, you only rewrite the part you failed. You may write only once per day.
  • Passed written results are valid for one year.
  • Minimum age is 16, or 15 in a high school driver education program.
  • Bring several pieces of original ID. Photocopies are not accepted. First-time drivers aged 15–18 need a signed Signature/Guarantor form.
  • You'll also take a vision test. After the knowledge tests you drive as a learner for at least nine months.
